Please understand that this doesn't go through an administrative assistant or a publicist; e-mails to this address come straight to me. That's good in that you have a direct pipeline to me (well... I guess that's good), but bad in that my access may sometimes be erratic. If I am on a diveboat in the middle of Lake Superior, I probably won't have access to e-mail. And when I'm on deadline, I may "submerge" for weeks (months?) at a time. But hang in there; I do my best to answer all e-mail. Note: It's probably best not to attach files or forwarded messages to e-mails sent to this address, as my spam-filter is pretty ruthless about obliterating those.
First, a note on reading manuscripts: please understand that I usually have a fairly hefty stack of manuscripts from novelist colleagues that I am reading for cover endorsements, and doing this consumes all of my "extra" reading time ... and then some. Besides, when I have my head stuck in one of my own manuscripts (which is most of the time), I'm not very likely to have either the distance or the objectivity to give you a good read on yours. What you want is someone whose mindset is geared toward third-party evaluation, and 99.9% of the time, that's just not me. A much more fitting place to turn to for comments on your manuscript is the professional mentoring staff at Jerry Jenkins' fine organization, the Christian Writers Guild; the folks there are much better qualified than I to comment on work in progress, they do it professionally (you'll pay for the service, but you'll get what you pay for), and they really know their stuff. In fact, Dave Lambert, one of my favorite content editors, has served as a Christian Writers' Guild Mentor. That said, you can write me in care of my publisher, Bethany House. I travel a lot, doing research on my books, and contacting me this way will keep my mailbox from blowing up in my absence!
